Organization Background
Desert Sanctuary, Inc. has been providing emergency and extended stay shelter services for women and children fleeing domestic violence in Barstow since 1982.

Counseling, groups, and classes are designed to empower clients to provide for themselves and their children physically, emotionally, and financially in an environment free from violence.

Their shelters host over 30 people, is ADA compliant, and provides for 30-day emergency stay, with extensions up to 6 months while working on legal, financial and educational goals. The addition of a greenhouse and egg-bearing chickens have reaped tremendous therapeutic benefits to the shelter residents.
